Bio

Doug Dorner brings almost ten years of experience in the fields of Criminal Defense and Probate/Estate planning to each of his clients. In addition to overseeing his own practice, Mr. Dorner’s career has centered on protecting the rights of both the people of the State of Florida and those who have been accused of violating the law. Mr. Dorner began his career as an Assistant State Attorney in the 9th Circuit (Orange, Osceola counties). As a prosecutor he worked in the Misdemeanor, Juvenile, and Felony Divisions. Mr. Dorner followed this by working for MetLife as a legal consultant and financial advisor to select trust and investment clients. His experiences in this area have given him greater insight into the complexities and intricacies of estate planning as well as issues that arise during Securities and Investment fraud cases. Before opening his own practice, Mr. Dorner worked closely with the nonprofit, Center For Special Needs Trusts Inc. During this time, Mr. Dorner acted as a consultant to other Personal Injury and Trust/Estates attorneys to place their clients in the appropriate settlement strategy. Mr. Dorner has also worked as an ongoing Adjunct Professor with the University of Central Florida concentrating on Criminal Law and Legal Studies.

Mr. Dorner was born and raised in the College Park area of Downtown Orlando. Upon graduating from Lake Highland Preparatory School, he attended the University of Florida where he received his degree in Criminology. Mr. Dorner followed this by attending Stetson University College of Law. During his time there, Mr. Dorner was elected as the Associate Justice of the Moot Court Board.

Mr. Dorner remains a committed member of the community. He belongs to the Florida Bar, the Orange County Bar Association, the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers (Eagle Member), and has served on the Stetson University Law School Advisory Committee. Outside of law, Mr. Dorner works with programs like the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to help raise money and support for their causes.

Mr. Dorner is licensed to practice in Florida State Courts and the U.S. Middle District of Florida.
